Actually…Your Mom Does Want a Gift for Mother’s Day

our 2021 mother's day gift guide

This time last year, Mother’s Day was different. Outdoor brunches and champagne lunches were replaced with fragrant loaves of banana bread and three-course dinners whipped up #blackfoodie style to show our gratitude for the number one woman in our lives.

This year, with many cities moving into a less-restrictive form of lockdown, the chance at a “regular” Mother’s Day is within our grasp. And even if patios in your city have opened up, after an entire year of cooking for yourself you might not even want to think about celebrating Mother’s Day with food.

LOL. Who are we kidding? This is BLACK FOODIE – of course food will be involved.

Jump to the list.

At BLACK FOODIE HQ, we asked our mothers what they wanted this year and the results were mostly what you’d expect from a group of women who raised Black foodies:

“A standmixer or a mogogo for injera.”

“A granddaughter.”

“A panini press.”

Now, while none of those items are on our gift list and nobody is tryna get pregnant in time for Mother’s Day 2022, what we can offer are 30+ unique gift ideas from Black-owned companies and creators. And if your momma’s love language is Acts of Service, we’ve listed a few caterers in Canada and the US who you can book to deliver a decadent brunch.

Happy Mother’s Day yall!
