Quianah Upton runs Arbitrary Living and Nourish In Black, formerly #ChopItUpATL. Quianah is an Atlanta based creative entrepreneur, event producer, and social justice advocate and organizer. Through Nourish In Black, she creates healing and dialogue-based gatherings. Their platform seeks to honour storytelling, art, and cultural foodways. They have discussed food sovereignty and local food access issues, gentrification using art and agriculture and “othering” in the art world as it pertains to women, differently-abled people and nonbinary folks. We have been putting on intimate public and private dinners and brunches with panels and dialogue since 2013. They are currently crowdfunding to raise money to buy land and build a greenhouse and eatery in Atlanta, called Nourish Botanica, which will serve Caribbean and Southern vegan food. They will use food as medicine, serving the community delicious bites and herbal remedies, and creating space for sustainable green entertainment.
