Tired of cereal? Want to switch up your oatmeal? Try this Teff bowl instead made with whole Teff grains from Berhan Teff. Teff is a nutrient packed grain from East Africa, it can be used in baked goods, injera and more. This Teff grain bowl is versatile and you can add whatever fresh fruits you like on top. Teff has a nutty flavour that pairs perfectly with warm spices and nutty flavours, my favourite combination is Teff and pecans. It’s a match made in heaven)
Ingredients:
(Measurements vary depending on the consistency / creaminess of the dish you want to achieve )
- 1 cup Teff
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup Almond milk
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 3 Tsp maple syrup
- 3 TSP pecan butter
- 1 Tsp slivered almonds
- Fresh berries
Bring your Teff grain to a boil in water and almond milk and add a dash of cinnamon and maple syrup near the end. To save time you can throw it all in a rice cooker which is what I do in the morning. Once the grain has cooked, serve hot in a bowl and top with slivered almonds, pecan butter, more almond milk, maple syrup and a sprinkle of cinnamon as well as fresh berries. Enjoy!
