This is my go-to wing sauce for summer cookouts because of how delicious and easy it is to make. You can also cook the wings in the oven and baste them with the sauce twice before you take them out.
I always tell my children that when they think they've minced the garlic, they should do it 5 more times. If you want a distinct wing sauce, use real garlic, not garlic powder.
Ingredients
Directions
Clean chicken wings very well and if you want, season them with a few dashes of low or no-salt all-purpose seasoning.
Set aside in the fridge until it's time for them to be cooked.
Mince garlic until it almost becomes a paste. Set aside.
Slowly heat butter in a medium-sized sauce pan until it's completely melted and starts to simmer.
Add garlic and continue to let simmer for 30-60 seconds until fragrant.
Pre-heat your oven if you're cooking them in one or fire up your grill.
Pour in hot sauce and stir until butter, garlic, and hot sauce are uniformly blended.
Simmer, uncovered,on low for 15-35 minutes (depending on how thick you want it), stirring occasionally. Use a splash screen to reduce splatter messes while allowing the steam to escape.
Cook wings in the oven or on the grill.
If using a gas grill, cook them at 400-degrees Fahrenheit for about 12-15 minutes with the grill lid down.
Then, flip them over and baste with the warm sauce and allow them to cook for another 5 minutes before turning them over and basting them again. Repeat until wings are fully cooked (internal temperature of 165-degrees Fahrenheit), about 25 minutes in total.
Serve them with anything you want - I like them with steamed broccoli for a healthy lunch or dinner.
