If these pears were a man, I’d marry him. They’re just the right amount of sweet, they're versatile, rich, beautifully browned, and they hit the spot.

I'm joking, but seriously, check out this recipe.

Ingredients

 2 Bartlett pears, firm
 ½ Lemon
 1 tbsp Unsalted butter
2 tbsp Dark brown sugar, packed
 2 tbsp Maple syrup
 ½ tsp Pure vanilla extract
 A splash of bourbon
 Water

Directions

1

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

2

Peel the pears and cut them in half lengthwise. Scoop out the cores, and rub the pears with the cut lemon wedge to prevent browning.

3

Melt the butter in an ovenproof skillet just large enough to hold the pears in a single layer.

Add the brown sugar and maple syrup to the skillet, and cook over moderately low heat, stirring, until the sugar is dissolved.

4

Add the pears and turn them several times to coat with the syrup.

Then, arrange the pears, cut side down, in a single layer in the skillet and bake them for about 30 minutes, basting occasionally with pan juices, until just softened and golden.

5

Transfer the pears to a platter and keep warm.

6

If necessary, add a little water to the skillet to thin out the syrup. Remove it from heat and stir in the vanilla.

7

Pour the syrup over the pears and serve warm or at room temperature.

Serve them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or with plain/vanilla yogurt for breakfast The pears also taste delicious on oatmeal.
